Purpose
- Coordinate workforce development activities with regional economic development strategies
- Identify employment trends and skill gaps and make recommendations for aligning local workforce development system to train workers in skills
- Identify employer needs and appropriate strategies for fulfilling the needs
Responsibilities
- Build relationships with economic development agencies and chambers of commerce
- Work with economic development agencies to identify skill gaps
- Identify strategies for filling skill gaps
- Evaluate workforce development need of employers and develop strategies for meeting those needs
- Review labor market information to identify trends
- Make recommendations for aligning the workforce development system to address changes in employment trends
- Develop goals, performance measures and incentive plans for improving deficiencies in services to employers
- Identify, from labor market information, high skill/high wage jobs and makes recommendations for adding occupations to the regional and state Targeted Occupations List
- Identify gaps in training programs that prepare individuals for targeted occupations
- Complete Training Provider certifications to ensure that adequate, appropriate training is available in the region
- Evaluate the performance of training providers to ensure that training programs are meeting employers' needs and make recommendations for improvement
- Develop strategies for marketing Board activities, programs and services to employers
