OUR VISION
- The workforce Board of the Treasure Coast improves our community by providing a productive workforce and expanding economic opportunities that meet employers' and jobseekers' needs and enhance the economic development or our region
ABOUT
THE BOARD
- The Workforce
Development Board of the Treasure
Coast is a private, non-profit
corporation with a Board of
Directors consisting of private
business, educational and
economic development representatives,
community-based organizations,
state agencies, elected officials
and a full-time professional
staff. Our mission is to promote
a bright economic future through
the coordination of workforce
development activities and
services in the four-county
area.
-
Workforce
development has become a major
theme for economic progress.
There is an increasing demand
for skilled labor across all
industry sectors and Treasure
Coast employers are looking
to the workforce system to
provide employees with the
required knowledge and skills
to adapt and compete in the
global marketplace. We have
programs and strategies to
develop the most valuable
resource — human capital.
ABOUT
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
-
Workforce
Florida, Inc. (WFI) is the
state's chief workforce policy
organization. Created by the
Workforce Innovation Act of
2000, the public-private partnership
supports and promotes economic
growth through workforce development.
-
WFI is
the principal architect in
the state's efforts to develop
and retain a highly competitive
workforce responsive to the
needs of employers. To improve
performance and accountability,
the landmark legislation establishing
WFI consolidated various workforce
programs and funding streams — including
Florida's pacesetting welfare
reform initiative — under a single umbrella.
-
While
WFI provides policy, planning
and oversight at the state
level, 24 regional workforce
boards with significant representation
from the business community
are largely responsible for
implementing programs in their
communities. With entrepreneurial
vision and in-depth local
knowledge, these boards are
encouraged to develop innovative
programs that address the
challenges and utilize the
resources in their specific
regions.
-
Workforce
development services in Florida
are available primarily through
a system of more than 200
One-Stop Career Centers designed
to provide easy access to
diverse services including
job placement and training,
temporary cash assistance
and special support services
such as subsidized childcare
and transportation.
