At local career fairs top employers come together to RECRUIT, SCREEN and HIRE qualified professionals.....and you can be one of them!!
This is an event that gives professionals and employers and the chance to meet and share information about career opportunities. A successful Career Fair helps professionals develop job opportunities and explore careers that will build relationships with employers.
Career Fairs maybe industry specific or multi company events.
Employer Recruiting Events (Career Fairs) take place in our Workforce Solutions Career Centers on a regular basis. Depending on the needs of the employer, professionals with the skills sought by the employer will be contacted regarding the upcoming event. Information on these recruiting events will also be posted in the local Career Centers.
PREPARE FOR THE CAREER FAIR?
Here are some tips:
Before the Career Fair
• Have your resume double-checked to make sure that there are no errors.
• Prepare a two minute presentation focusing on your experience, strengths
and achievements.
Practice it. This will help you to do an effective presentation when you meet with employers.
• Be prepared to discuss your job skills in the field in which you are interested and how they relate to the particular needs of the employer.
At the Career Fair
• Personal appearance and neatness is very important.
• Bring at least 25 copies of your resume.
• Show a strong interest, enthusiasm and confidence.
• Discuss your experience and strengths and ask questions about the opportunities the employers offer.
• Before you leave, collect employer literature and business cards.
After the Fair
• Take the time to review and organize the employer information and the business cards you have collected.
• Send follow-up letters to those employers you are interested in, thank them for their time and the information.
• Stress your interest and what you can offer.
• Make each letter different and targeted to each employer you are writing to.
