I am a dislocated worker due to the downsizing of my company. Your staff member came to our offices to talk about your services. I would like to take one of your Interviewing Classes and also touch up on my Excel and PowerPoint. What do I need to do? Do I need to make an appointment? Do I need to come by your Resource Center? I may also need to attend school. I have not taken computer classes since 1997.
All Career Centers offer classes on Interviewing Skills. You will need to call or visit the Center to make a reservation because seating is limited. The Resource Center also offers classes in Word and Excel. Going back to school to further your employable skills you would need to talk to a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Career Planner. You can call them directly or attend a Career Center Orientation to find out further information.

How does your Federal Bonding program work and do you have a list of companies that uses this service?
The Federal Bonding Program provides fidelity bonding insurance coverage to individuals with criminal histories and other high-risk job applicants who are qualified, but fail to get jobs because regular commercial bonding is denied due to their backgrounds. Each bond insures the employer for any type of stealing by employees including theft, forgery, larceny or embezzlement. It does not cover liability due to poor workmanship, job injuries or work accidents. Employers using this service vary. You may contact your nearest Career Center for assistance with job placement. Workforce Solutions programs may be available to assist you.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance Although many workers will be covered by the state's regular unemployment compensation program, those not covered may apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA). The program also covers self-employed individuals, owners of farms and ranches, farm and ranch workers, as well as fishers and others who are not normally covered by state unemployment compensation. The Agency for Workforce Innovation administers the DUA program in Florida in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor and state and regional workforce boards. Funding for the program is provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. To apply please contact your local Career Center and process an application.
