FAST FACTS ABOUT THE ADULT WORK EXPERIENCE
WHAT: The purpose of Work Experience is to give an individual with limited employment history, or an extended period of unemployment, the opportunity to practice work readiness skills, newly obtained occupations skills, or simply re-enter employment. Work experiences are short-term, subsidized employment experiences, not to exceed six (6) months. The period of work experience will be determined based on clients’ needs to develop habits, attitudes and skills essential to the workplace, as well as negotiations with the work site employer. Workplaces will be evaluated prior to placing a client on the work site, and employers must document their compliance with applicable federal and state wage and employment laws.
WHO: Unemployed adults 18 years or older.
HOW: Once a company completes a work experience pledge(s), a Workforce Solutions’ representative contacts the company and schedules a visit to the work site to review the details and a Work site Agreement is signed by both parties. The adult work experience is based on 1:1 ratio (one employee for one work experience participant). Participants are matched with work experience pledges according to their career and education goals and/or their assessed needs and skills.
The goal is for employers to partner with us to stimulate our local economy and support a highly competitive workforce on the Treasure Coast!
